Add a Network Printer

How to add a network printer to your laptop or PC:


PBS Student Printing Restriction

The only printer that PBS Students are allowed to use while on campus is the "Find-Me-Printer" so these instructions are only applicable to PBS Faculty members. Students are permitted to add additional print drivers if they would like to print to an off-campus printer. If you are a PBS Student and would like to request that additional print drivers to be installed on your computer then please make a note of the make and model of the printer you intend to print to and then bring your computer to the Help Desk at your earliest convenience.

  1. Open a documents browser window.
    One way is to Open the Windows Start Menu by pressing are clicking the windows button, then clicking on 'documents icon'. 
  2. In the address bar type "\\pbsps"  (make sure you have the double BACK slash there. Otherwise it will take you to website)
  3. Double click on the printer you are wishing to print to. This will install that printer for you. 
  4. You should now be able to print to the printer of your choice. (you may have to shutdown and restart some programs for them to find the new printer).

New printer not showing up?

If you just added a printer using these steps and it is not appearing in the list of printers for a specific program, like Microsoft Word, then please close the program and reopen it. Once the program has been closed and reopened then you should see the newly added printer in the list.
