  9. After you paste the youtube.com link in the provided blank, click "Get Info"

    1. Note: If the video is already available in the library a "click here" link will be provided so that you can navigate directly to the video.

  10. The "Title" and the "Description" are already filled-in but can be changed. You can also set the "Subject" and the appropriate "Grade" level required to view the video.

  11. IMPORTANT: It is best to select both options next to "Visibility." So be sure the "Public Library" and the "District Library" options are selected so that it will show up on the PBS Campus Library web page as well as your specific District's Library.

  12. Click "Submit" and the video should be added within a few minutes.

  13. Once the video is available, any student can go to http://library.parkviewbaptist.com and view any of the pre-approved or newly added videos. It is also possible to send the students a direct link to the video so they do not have to find it in the library themselves (be sure to copy the link from the Campus Library and not the original youtube.com link when sending it to students).

...

First lets check to see if it "should be blocked"

Videos that are categorized by youtube as Documentary, Education, Music, or Science and Technology are automatically allowed for students to view.
You can paste the youtube video link into this site to see its category.
YouTube Data Viewer (ytlarge.com)

If it is one of the allowed categories, then students should be able to see it automatically.

Requesting a Video to be approved that's not in one of the allowed categories.

If a teacher would like to use a youtube video in class, they need to email helpdesk with the link to video.

We can also unblock whole channels so that all videos on that channel will be visible.

Some examples of channels that are unblocked:

  • National Geographic
  • Khan Academy
  • Crashcourse
