Possible Solution to Fix On or Off-Campus Web Filtering Issues:
If you are trying to access a website and you get blocked by the web filter you will see a page that looks
something like thissimilar to one of these:
- The
If it looks like the image on the left-hand side, then the user whose web filter you are currently receiving is listed in the middle of the page
.(The
web filterexample in the picture above and to the left is identified as belonging to "student").
If you are seeing the "Restricted Site" page that is shown in the image above on the right-hand side, then type "blocked.com" in the address bar at the top of your web browser and hit "Enter" on your keyboard. After you do that, you should be redirected to the correct "
Ifblock page" that is shown above on the left-hand side.
Now that you are familiar with the pages above, if you are supposed to
be getting something other than the web filter you see there then click somewherehave access to a website that you do not currently have access to, go ahead and click on the identification link as shown in the image below.
Once you click on the link you can type in your PBS
Usernameusername and
Passwordpassword.
The username
format is going towill be your firstname.lastname and then the password is the same password that
unlocksallows you to access your school
computeremail.
The authentication page may look slightly different than the one shown below, but you should still be able to enter your username and password to continue.
Now that you have manually enter your credentials, the web filter should
definitely"know
"who you are" and now you should receive the appropriate web filter.
Please be aware:
If you are still being blocked from accessing a website that you require access to while you are on-campus or would like to have access to while you are off-campus then you can email the website address to helpdesk@parkviewbaptist.com
When sending a request to unblock a website please do not send the address of the block page (this would NOT what we need "http://ls.parkviewbaptist.com/access/web?id=5ab42579") because that does not tell us what website you were trying to access. Say for example you would like to view Yahoo's website while you are at home and it is blocked; In that case, you would email the Help Desk requesting that "www.yahoo.com" be unblocked.
Additionally, any device that is not supported by the Technology Department may require you to login to the web filter every 24-48 hours if you are attempting to access websites that are blocked in the "Default All Students" web filter. These devices which are "unmanaged by the Tech Department" would include personal cell phones/laptops, iPads, Kindles, etc.
